BSKF Winter Seminar 2025

Last weekend the British Shorinji Kempo Federation descended en masse on Holborn in London for the annual Winter Training Seminar. We packed out the venue (there was a hot trade in re-selling tickets!) to spend the weekend learning from the best in the country.

Martial artists training in a crowded room.

Along with the staples that you would expect from Shorinji Kempo training, there were special sessions on appo (pressure point techniques), fluidity and seiho (restorative massage).

The fun didn’t end at the dojo doors on Saturday, as we moved swiftly to a local pub for drinks and a Quiz! The pub quiz had all the usual suspects – general knowledge, film & TV, a picture round, and more – but was Kempo themed. It was definitely a benefit to be in a team from multiple dojos, so we all got to know some people we don’t see very often.

I would highly recommend going to a BSKF training seminar whenever you get the chance. After all, how often do you get to have a weekend that is both fun and educational?
