Dingle Busen 2025

In September, the BSKF held a “Busen” training event for senior grades. This three day intensive course aimed to consolidate our knowledge and introduce advanced concepts.

Many of our current students will already be aware that Shorinji Kempo is a wide and deep martial art. There is no chance of getting bored because there is always a new concept or technique to learn. This was driven home during the three days of the course, with even those who have been practicing for 20+ years finding something new to take away from the lessons.

There was a lot of note-taking, and more importantly note-making (and if you don’t know the difference, go check out this completely off topic video). There was a lot of sweating. There was a lot of confusion, frustration, and sudden “ah-ha!” moments. There was visible improvement in technical ability.

Of course, while it was hard work 🤯, we also made sure to take care of ourselves, with daily saunas after training, good food, and plenty of good conversation.
